Dreaming of Old Big Ears

I have taken this walk many times before, since I was a kid. Up the Anfield Road and then along the back alleys to the corner of the Kop. Its in the quietness of the alley way that I get nervouse but I've probably not been this nervous before. Sure, we are leading and have 2 precious away goals but we're facing Barcelona. The European Champions that boast in their ranks the European player of the year amongst a host of fleet footed attacking talent - if any team is going to score its this one - the question is 'how many?' The quietness of those alleys quickly gives way to the hustle and bustle around the Stadium. My nerves are replaced by anticipation - I'm here to witness a European night at Anfield and sample the atmosphere of the Kop - that on nights like these is possibly the best place to be in all the world. I was not dissapointed. The songs were sung for the whole night - 'Fields of Anfield Rd', 'Old Scouser Tommy','L-I-V-E-R-P-O-O-L', the Rafa Benitez Song, 'We won it five times', 'When the Reds go marching in', 'Steve Gerrard Gerrard', 'Ring of Fire' and of course 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. Ok so we lost a game that we should have wrapped up in the first half and usually in these cases you go home gutted but not tonight. The game ended and 'YNWA' was sung - the Barca fans joined in and then probably the best moment of the night, the whole of Anfield began to chant 'Barca' This is the way football should be celebrated. We had witnessed some great skill of Ronaldinho and Messi but in the end Carra and chums had nullified most of their sting. Oh how I wish that this run would end up in Ancient Greece with old big ears. Bring on the next round

YankBrits

A week ago I had never heard of the Dallas Stars, the Texas Rangers or the Montreal Canadiens let alone the random American Billionaires, George & Tom, who now own my beloved Club.
I was never convinced that DIC were the way to go, like some reds I know. Yes, they had bags of money, yes they knew how to breed horses and dig for oil but it seemed that we'd just become a rich young rulers play thing for a while before he got bored. David Moores said he could only sell the family jewels once and I guess the fact that he never actually had the chance to look the Sheikh in the eye and ask him 'What are your intentions for the club?', must have had him a little nervous. Instead it was always middle men.
So although I wasnt keen on American ownership either it would appear at least that we've into the hands of two likeable blokes. I have to admit that their little charm offensive yesterday - kind of won me over. I mean only time will tell but they seem to know what they are doing. So i will have to get used to being LFC being called a franchise but hey it might just be worth it

Its been a while

Ok so this might be just a quick note to save myself from deletion from MH list but i'm not sure i get much time anymore.

So whats happened in the last 5 mths since my last blog. Well i've become a Dad. Kaleb was born on 22nd September. He's flippin amazing - hard work but amazing. He now sleeps through the night and smiles all the time. Fatherhood has definately changed me - its hard to be so selfish when this little man is looking at you for everything. Ok so not everything but you get my gist. I love him as he is and don't really want him to grow - I'm just trying to cherish his littleness but equally can't wait to have that first kick in the garden with him and for him to be able to tell me all about his day.

I've also got a new job. Ok so im still at AandL but have moved into Marketing. Some stuff im working on will soon be seen on the highstreet and the net so thats pretty cool. I look back on my 5 years there and i still find myself amazed that im employable and that they keep giving me opportunities to do different things and paying me money. I've now been promoted and moved round about 5 or 6 times and never applied for anything.

Oh and probably the biggest reason for nor blogging - i've discovered XBOX live. I got a 360 free with Hel's mobile phone deal and have been slightly addicted to challenging those from across the globe to PES 5 and now PES 6 games. Its genius - but has been far too time consuming.

P.s. Stino - i'm on your tail
